The Everglades National Park is definitely my “Warm Alaska”!

The weather is definitely playing tricks on us lately,  but with that being said,  it’s been a typical Winter.  Cold fronts dipping down to our neck of the woods and then a few days of warmer weather.  The Everglades National Park is truly a gem.  I never get tired of my commute that is for sure.  The Everglades Backcountry and Coastal areas this time of year can be awesome for Fly and Spin Anglers.  Watching a big Snook or Redfish cruise down a shoreline looking for its next meal can be pretty freaking cool.  Having Clients from all around the world come and fish with me is such a fun part of my job.  Watching my Anglers make that great cast and being rewarded with an awesome “visual eat” makes me love what I do so much!

I wish I had the patience to pull out my phone and video the scenarios that play out on my Skiff,  but I think I’m partly greedy and paranoid at the same time.  My luck I’d pull out my phone and would mess up positioning the Skiff for my Angler and sometimes I think what is taking place is meant for the individuals involved and not meant for the whole world to see.  Watching a Tarpon hammer a fly or a plug Skiff side is a sight to see or seeing a Snook or Redfish flare their gills and slam a fly to the back of their throat and praying that your Angler remembers to “strip set” as opposed to “trout setting” is such a cool aspect of my profession.

With all this being said,  I would love to say that “now” is the time to come and fish The Everglades National Park,  but if we’re being transparent “anytime” you can get down here and fish this magical place any of the aforementioned scenarios can play out!

Please remember to frequent your local Fly Shop!  These are the places that have helped make Fly Fishing what it is today!

Thanks again for taking the time to check out my webpage and or my Fishing report.  If you have any questions about the beautiful places that I am blessed to Guide at, be it the Everglades National Park, Alaska or Nantucket please feel free to reach out to me.

Semper Fi,   Capt. Ron
