Everglades City and Chokoloskee Fishing Charters - Fishing Report

Gotta love some Winter in The Everglades!  One day it’s a “Chamber of Commerce” day and the next day you’re digging for your Puffy for the run in the morning. With that being said,  if the temperature swing isn’t super big then possibilities are endless in The Glades.

I recently had the chance to fish with my better half and boy did we have a blast!  A little chilly for our run out,  but definitely worth it.  With me on the pole and Sandy on the pointy end the Snook didn’t have a chance  We were throwing artificial lures this day so we both had the ability to fish at the same time.  I always get asked this question.  How many of your clients are Fly Anglers as opposed to Spin/Plug anglers?  I’d have to say it’s probably 90-95% Fly Anglers and about 5-10% Spin/Plug Anglers.  It would probably be safe to say that most of us were introduced to Fishing the conventional way,  spinning rods or baitcasters.  Fly Fishing is truly my passion,  but I still will fish conventionally for the rest of my life.  There is definitely a time and a place.  I have to admit,  having two proficient Spin/Plug Anglers on board can be a blast,  as it was this day!  Sandy’s casting has improved tremendously since we started dating,  but on this day it was like a switch was flipped and she was dropping some pretty sweet casts.  It definitely paid off that’s for sure.  I think I might have been the one to draw first blood on a decent Snook Then Sandy hooked a really nice Snook at a cool little creek entrance between two Islands.  Game on until the Snook decided to show her that he wasn’t a pushover and commenced to make a few blistering runs before ending the battle on  one of my trim tabs.  After catching our breath and feeling blessed to just have experienced such mayhem we licked our wounds, re-rigged, ate lunch and pressed on.  With plans for that evening we both agreed to fish the next pocket of shoreline and head to the house.  I believe it might have literally been her next cast when she dropped her lure in a spot that looked super fishy,  twitched it once or twice and BAM This cast ended up being the last cast of our trip!  A Banger and I believe her personal best so far!

Thanks again for taking the time to check out my Webpage!  If you have any questions about the beautiful places that I am blessed to Guide at, be it The Everglades National Park, Alaska or Nantucket please feel free to reach out to me.

P.S.  Remember to frequent your local Fly Shop!!! These are the places that made Fly Fishing what it is today.
