The largest subtropical wilderness in the United States!
Everglades National Park protects an unparalleled landscape that provides important habitat for numerous rare and endangered species! An international treasure as well - a World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, a Wetland of International Importance, and a specially protected area under the Cartagena Treaty.
Snook
Possibly my favorite species on the planet to target Snook readily takes flies & lures. Snook can be targeted along mangrove shorelines, backcountry bays & shallowest of flats. Sight casting Snook is in my opinion one of the premier ways to catch them. If conditions do not warrant sight casting then blind casting shorelines or structure are a close second.
Fall, winter and spring is primarily backcountry fishing at its finest. Once the water warms up the Snook tend to move towards the outer islands & flats on the outside which is The Gulf of Mexico. |
Tarpon
A highly sought after sportfish on Fly & conventional tackle, can be caught year round also in the park. Smaller Tarpon are here year round with the big poon showing up in the winter to early spring, depending on our temps. Throwing flies/lures to laid up Tarpon can be. Nerve racking to say the least, but can be rewarded by epic battles which will etch a memory of a lifetime.
Casting to rolling Tarpon is another popular way to target these beasts and can be unbelievable at times in the park. From micro to mega poon you will not be disappointed. |
+ many other species!
The big three Snook, Tarpon & Redfish are always crowd pleasers, but with that being said, the park definitely has more to offer & by saying that I mean we have other great sportfish like Speckled Seatrout, Black Drum, Triple Tail, Goliath Grouper, Cobia & with this being said, Snook can be targeted year round in the Everglades National Park.
